‘There’s Not That Many Bodies out Here’

With the 2018 Winter Olympics set to begin in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Feb. 9th and end just over a month later, there’s no shortage of excitement for this year’s games. But there will be one thing missing: North Korean athletes., who have been banned from participating due to their country’s nuclear weapons program.,

“There’s Not That Many Bodies out Here” is a song by the American heavy metal band “Drowning Pool”. The lyrics of the song are about how there are not many people left in the world.

It’s rare for a guy to come into the NBA and completely transform it, but Stephen Curry has done exactly that.

Prior to Steph’s arrival in the NBA in 2009, 3-point shooting was a useful talent that players could add to their repertoire.

It’s now a must.

Curry is almost unstoppable from long range and has established himself as the best shooter in NBA history. His infinite range, on the other hand, distinguishes him from every other 3-point shooter. There’s a decent possibility the Baby-Faced Assassin can get the ball into the basket no matter where he is on the court.

But how did the Golden State Warriors’ star develop his long-range shooting skills? Is it true that he only practiced half-court shots as a kid?

It all began when he was a freshman at Davidson and was undefeated.

In the NBA, Stephen Curry possesses a seemingly endless range.

Stephen Curry has shown he isn’t simply a conventional shooter during his NBA career. He’s a ball-handler who can put the ball in the basket from any spot on the floor.

Curry attempted 45 shots from 30-plus feet during his second MVP season in 2015-16. He was responsible for 46% of them.

From a typical 3-point range, it would be an exceptional percentage.

Since then, his deep tries have only become stronger.

Curry made 104 shots from 30-plus feet in 2020-21, a season in which he led the NBA in scoring. He hit 39.4 percent of them. Curry has tried 35 baskets from that range in 2021-22 and has hit 31.4 percent of them.

So, how does it stack up against some of the NBA’s best shooters?

Damian Lillard, Buddy Hield, Fred VanVleet, and Jordan Clarkson, in addition to Curry’s 12.7 attempts per game, made the most 3-pointers in the league in 2020-21. Lillard came the closest to Curry in terms of range, hitting 33.8 percent of his 127 attempts from 30 feet or more. Hield, on the other hand, only tried 16 shots from that distance, compared to 32 for VanVleet and seven for Clarkson.

Few players are in the same league as Curry, and if they are, it’s because he influenced them.

Steph’s serious efforts started in college.

Despite the fact that Steph Curry currently tries more 30-foot shots than he did earlier in his career, he began shooting long-range attempts in college, when he was a standout at Davidson.

“It was sort of a response to how people were defending me in college, heading into my junior year,” he stated on the Dec. 1 broadcast of NBA Today. “It’s like, ‘There aren’t that many corpses out here,’” says the narrator. So, if I can knock it down, I may be able to make it easy on myself.’ But from then, it was simply a natural development of the effort I put in and the imagination I had to attempt new things.”

Would Curry have begun hitting long-range shots if other teams had not concentrated their defensive game plans so heavily on him while he was at Davidson? Curry’s ability to put the ball in the hoop from wherever on the floor may never be known, yet it is undoubtedly his most renowned talent.

Stephen Curry is on the verge of becoming the NBA’s 3-point champion.

Curry is closing in on an NBA record for career 3-pointers made, thanks to all of the long-range shots he’s tried during his career.

Ray Allen has the record with 2,973, but Curry is just 33 makes behind him at 2,940 as of Dec. 2.

On NBA Today, he stated, “Now that we’re under 50, it’s like, ‘This is a really amazing pursuit.” “I remember watching the game when Ray passed Reggie [Miller] and just experiencing the emotions and realizing how significant it was at the moment.” It’s me in that discussion now, ten, eleven years later. So it’s a little weird to consider.”

Stephen Curry is a two-time NBA MVP, a seven-time All-Star, and a three-time NBA champion. But he’ll be the 3-point champ in no time.
