The Cleveland Browns Begin Their Revenge Tour Against the Kansas City Chiefs in Hopes to Avenge 2020 Playoff Loss

The Cleveland Browns are trying to get back at the Kansas City Chiefs for their loss in the 2020 AFC Championship Game. This is not only a chance for revenge, but also an opportunity to make up for all of the heartache that has happened since then.

The browns 2020 season record is the Cleveland Browns first game of their revenge tour against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Browns are hoping to avenge their loss in the 2020 playoffs.

The Cleveland Browns’ expectations have never been greater in recent memory. The new-look Browns squad will try to knock out its opponents one by one as the pressure mounts to save the moribund club. Cleveland is determined to improve in 2021 after suffering a devastating playoff loss in the divisional round to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Browns kick off the season against the same club that terminated their playoff run in 2020.

The Browns want to capitalize on their offensive gains from last season.

The Browns completed the 2020 season with an 11-5 record, good enough for third place in the AFC North’s close race. In 2021, the division will be tougher than ever, but Cleveland is in a strong position to win its first division title since 1989.

Kevin Stefanski, the former offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, was appointed as the next head coach in Cleveland before the 2020 season. It was clear that he was a step up from Freddie Kitchens.

After having his greatest season of his career in 2020, quarterback Baker Mayfield is starting his second season under Stefanski’s system. He passed for 3,563 yards and 26 touchdowns as the former No. 1 overall selection. His eight interceptions were his lowest total in the NFL.

Odell Beckham Jr. is back after missing the whole season due to injury. It’ll be fascinating to see whether the three-time Pro Bowler can continue to develop on his connection with Mayfield. Jarvis Landry led the club in receptions once again, while Donovan Peoples-Jones is vying for the No. 3 wide receiver position with Rashard Higgins.

The Browns boast probably the finest offensive line in the NFL, led by Jedrick Wills Jr., Wyatt Teller, JC Tretter, and Joel Bitonio. Pro Football Focus gave Teller a grade of 92.9, which is among the best at the position.

Running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are the greatest beneficiaries of the strong offensive line performance. In only 12 games in 2020, Chubb ran for 1,067 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Georgia graduate had his best rushing yardage of his career, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Hunt racked up over 800 rushing yards and 300 receiving yards. He tallied 11 goals.

In 2021, the Browns will be stacked on defense.

The Browns’ defense, as good as their offense is, may be even more so. Myles Garrett, a defensive end, is leading the assault. He was selected with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft by Cleveland, and he has steadily improved year after year.

Garrett is coming off a successful presidential campaign in 2020. He has 48 tackles, 12 sacks, and four forced fumbles in his career. He was relentless in his pursuit of opposition quarterbacks, racking up 18 quarterback hits. The Browns added Jadeveon Clowney to create a formidable pass-rushing tandem with Garrett. Takk McKinley was also added to ensure that the team had enough depth.

Jacob Phillips, a linebacker, is on injured reserve and may miss the whole season. Joe Woods, the defensive coordinator, does, however, have some skill at the position. According to The Athletic, Anthony Walker joins the team from Indianapolis and will be the main defensive signal-caller. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah of Notre Dame is a promising talent who may be the steal of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Browns’ defense will be headed by cornerback Denzel Ward and newly acquired safety John Johnson III, who has 105 tackles for the Los Angeles Rams in 2020. Cornerback Greg Newsome II was drafted by general manager Andrew Berry. Troy Hill is expected to start in the spot.

Former LSU players Greedy Williams and Grant Delpit, who both missed the whole 2020 season, provide plenty of depth in the secondary.

The Chiefs will provide an early-season test for the Browns defense, but it will also serve as a barometer for the unit’s potential.

Super Bowl LVI is expected to be won by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the preseason favorites to win the Super Bowl out of the AFC in 2021.

The Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have the most dynamic attack in the NFL. Since taking over as starting quarterback in 2018, the three-time Pro Bowler has taken the NFL by storm.

Kansas has finished in the top six in total offense in each of the last three seasons, thanks to head coach Andy Reid, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, and his staff. A similar outcome is expected for the 2021 season.

Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill are at the top of their respective positions in the NFL and provide defenders nightmarish matchups. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is in his second year with this method and should be able to generate even more with the added experience.

During the 2020 playoff game, Mahomes blasted the Browns across the middle of the field. Cleveland is hoping that the arrival of John Johnson III would aid them in this regard. The goal of their defensive overhaul was to create a more consistent pass rush. Clowney and McKinley should provide them with more balance and divert some of Myles Garrett’s focus away from him.

This Browns squad is more equipped to slowing down the high-powered Chiefs attack because of their increased defensive depth. The Browns offense, on the other hand, will have plenty of chances to produce huge plays. Tyrann Mathieu, a Kansas City safety, is on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, and his availability for the game is unknown.

In 2020, the Cleveland Browns were a lot more balanced team than they are now. A game against the two-time reigning AFC champions would send a message to the rest of the league.

Pro Football Reference provided the statistics.
