On Wednesday, 22 May, Arsenal announced their new kit, and it looks very different from the many classic Arsenal kits that have come before it. What’s the big deal? The classic kit uses subtle, traditional, and comfortable colors such as white and red; while the new kit is bright and bold, with purple and gold colors. The kit, while certainly modern and stylish, does not match the traditional Arsenal identity.
“That Purple and Gold Is Different” is a story about two major sports franchises, one which has won its most recent championship but is apparently not what it once was, and the other that is considered by many to be the best sports franchise of all time.
If you’re a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, then you probably know that Jerry Jones has a thing for over-the-top, attention-grabbing color schemes. The Cowboys’ logo is a blue star, while their helmets and jerseys are a combination of green and red. On the other hand, the New York Giants’ colors are green and white, and their logo is a blue star with a big red “G” right in the middle of it. What’s the difference? The Cowboys’ colors are called “Dallas blue,” while the Giants’ colors are called “New York green.”
Carmelo Anthony is now officially a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, which is undoubtedly a strange (but fantastic) dream for LA fans.
Anthony joins the Lake Show after an established Hall of Fame career, and he now hopes to win his first NBA title with his close buddy, LeBron James. While seeing Anthony in purple and gold is likely to excite Laker fans, he’s still trying to “wrap” his mind around the idea that he’s playing for a team that has won 17 titles.

In his NBA career, Anthony has nothing more to prove. One day, he will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Melo has averaged 23.0 points per game throughout his 18 years in the NBA, and in 2012-13, he led the league in scoring with 28.7 points per game. He’s also been named to 10 All-Star and six All-NBA teams, and his 27,370 points put him 12th all-time in NBA/ABA history.
Although the Syracuse product is no longer a top scoring threat in the league, he averaged 14.3 points per game for the Portland Trail Blazers over the past two seasons and hit a career-high 40.9 percent from 3-point range in 2020-21.
His ability to shoot the ball at a high rate was likely what drew him to the Lakers this summer, and he now joins a squad that looks nothing like it did last season.
The Lakers now boast previous league MVP Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, Kendrick Nunn, Trevor Ariza, Malik Monk, Wayne Ellington, and Kent Bazemore in addition to LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Anthony.
That lineup might be enough to help Anthony win his first championship, and he seems to be looking forward to the chance to do it in Los Angeles.
Carmelo Anthony is still trying to get his mind around the reality that he is now a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Anthony worked out at the Lakers’ training facility for the first time this week, and he talked with the media afterwards about how he felt about it.
According to Spectrum SportsNet, he stated, “This is my first time here in the building, in the facilities, on the court.” “I’m still getting my bearings, trying to get my mind around the idea that I’m dressed in purple and gold.”
“My first exercise here went fantastic today; it felt nice in here today, and it felt good being in here,” he added. Again, it’s exactly like any other court, save for the purple and gold. It has always been that way, and it always will be that way, so I’m just glad to be a part of it. I wish my fans could see me working, but all they need to know is that I’m working. I’ve arrived at my destination… It’s taken a long time for this to happen. As a result, I’m looking forward to it. You, the fans, should be happy about it as well. The rest of Laker Nation should be ecstatic as well.”
Anthony seems to be proud to wear the same outfit as Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
But the greatest issue will be whether he can follow in their footsteps and help the Lakers win a championship.
Is it possible for the Los Angeles Lakers to win a championship in 2021-22?
The Lakers aren’t the same squad they were last year, or even the year before when they won the title.
They now boast a Big Three in James, Davis, and Westbrook, as well as many excellent shooters and a few of key role players in Howard and Rondo, who helped them win the 2020 championship.
Their greatest issue will be age, as they have nine players who are 32 or older, including Anthony, who is 37, and James, who will be 37 in December.
The Lakers, on the other hand, have a fantastic opportunity to win a championship if their age does not lead to injuries. Their Big Three is equally as skilled, if not more so, than the Brooklyn Nets’, and they boast the league’s deepest roster. If James, Westbrook, or Davis are double-teamed, they have plenty of alternatives, particularly on the perimeter, where they can simply pass it to someone like Anthony for a 3-point try.
Overall, the Lakers have taken a big gamble by totally overhauling their team and bringing in a slew of older players. However, if their diabolical plot succeeds, Anthony, James, and the rest of the LA team may win yet another championship.

It seems like every year it’s the same story. A baseball team wins the World Series, David Ortiz is retiring, Peyton Manning throws the 50th touchdown of his career, and the NFL announces new rules. This time though, I’ve got to give credit to the NFL. Their new rules are so great, so simple, so perfect, that I think they deserve a little love..
